About Us

The Kottapuram Integrated Development Society (KIDS) prides itself on being located in Kottapuram, Kodungallur, Thrissur District of Kerala. The place is among the many significant landmarks of the Muziris Heritage Project, the largest heritage conservation project in India. The proximity to the many water bodies and rural villages of the region entails KIDS through an enabling process where the locals live a life of their own , in self reliance and complete harmony with nature. KIDS further serve them as well as the Community Based Organizations like ‘Kudumbashree’ to support women and the marginalised sections of the society. It has made valuable contributions to the decentralized planning process of local bodies through participatory approach. KIDS has expanded its activities to three more revenue districts other than Thrissur, namely Ernakulam, Malappuram and Palakad

KIDS has developed and followed strict standards in the fields of planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, accounting etc. Both Central and State Governments have shown keen interest in associating with KIDS in their various Community development programmes. The perspective of social action has acquired dramatic changes over the last two decades, from a charity approach, to make a giant significant progress towards making its projects and programme more sustainable.

Various departments that function under KIDS are the Image Training Center, Thanmaya and Jyothis Women’s welfare centre, Centre for the Differently Abled, Natural Fibre Craft centre, Centre for Natural Resource Management, Agriculture Development Center, Centre for Children’s Development, John Paul Women’s welfare society, Center for Tribal Development, Center for Fishermen development, Sayamprahba program for the elderly, Stella Maris etc.
